Sofia is the granddaughter of well-known American graphic designer and Professor Emeritus Raymond Morales and the daughter of James and Reina (Morales) Detjen. She has two older brothers, Elliott, who also attends Harvard University, and Danny, who attends the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he swims for the NCAA Division I (D-I) Air Force Falcons.

She enjoys rowing, high-intensity cardio, and strength training. In 2024, as a sophomore, Sofia earned a spot as a “walk-on” on the Harvard Women’s heavyweight rowing team, known as the Radcliffe Crew—the oldest women’s rowing program in the Ivy League. This NCAA Division 1 team consistently ranks among the top teams in the NCAA. In 2023, as a senior in high school, she was recognized as a 2022-23 Deseret News/UHSAA Academic All-State for 6A Girls Cross Country.
